Aldborough Beach

Pied Wagtail

Jackdaw

Juvenille Herring Gull

Final postings from Suffolk. The photographs were taken the car of some birds on the shingle beach at Aldborough and the birds there.

It's great to find birds fairly close to hand and when you focus on them they immediately look sharp and the ridges of shingle behind are out of focus.

I like Pied Wagtails and there was some on the farm where we stayed at Iken. I think the bird pictured looks nice on the shingle beach.

It may seem strange but I usually end up disappointed with my Jackdaw shots, the birds eyes often look odd, however I am happy with these results and particularly like the pebble in the mouth of one bird.

I also liked the juvenille Herring Gull sitting on the top of a shingle bank with crashing surf in the wind behind.

Hi Mike{:)

I love the pictures of both the Pied Wagtail and the Jackdaws on the pebble beach. One day, when finance permits, I am going to get myself a bigger screen for my computer. I did not realise quite how small my screen was until I started viewing pictures on the computer screens at work. My screen is only 12". So when I do get my bigger screen, viewing your pictures and others full screen will be so much better. There is no doubt to fully appreciate the pictures, they are better viewed full screen.

Hi Mike
All the Wagtail species make nice images.
The Jackdaw are notoriously difficult to get the light right and you have done that as you have with the Magpie on your great new header photo.

Thanks for your comments Lynmiranda and Roy.
Certainly the larger the picture the greater the impact, I have a printer that goes to A3+ size and occasionally if I get a shot where I do not have to zoom in on the computer and where the light is right the results can be very pleasing.
I have always found Magpies and Jackdaws difficult, they can be quite confiding but the pictures are often disappointing.
Glad you like the latest efforts.

Thanks for your comments Chris.
I should be able to get out and about again in a week or two having completed my DIY of putting the house back together again after a rewire!
