Door Step Birding (Almost)!

On Saturday we saw Spotted Flycatcher for the first time this year a pair at Hilla Green as reported locally earlier in the week, no pictures but there, great to see.

This evening we got home from work and changed for a walk deciding to ditch the car for once and set off from home.
We set off and barely get 100 yards _ _ _and.

It is like the old saying that you do not appreciate what you have on the doorstep (sometimes).
We live in a courtyard of cottages, walk out the yard turn left, barely past the last cottages garden and. Well I must be slow but two weeks ago I had Grey Wagtail there, today we had a pair feeding one youngster. Pictures difficult low down in the river (Derwent) under the tree canopy.
We then sit further up river, another 100 yards and Grey Wagtail is up and down. We sit in warm weather watching various birds, Blackbird, House Sparrow, Song Thrush, all better than walking. This is relaxing.
The walk gets curtailed as we get as far as the new local shop in the village (opened today).
Back to the riverbed and Grey Wagtail, great low sun (burnt out some shots - doh) and sat above me _ _ _ Spotted Flycatcher!
Next post the Grey Wags.

Great shots Mike, it's so much more special when beauties like this turn up close to home.
