Sika Deer

I got this shot yesterday of a Sika Deer where they are easy to see and relatively comfortable with humans even if always keeping a watchful eye. I was pleased with this shot as
I thibk the lighting on the deer and nearby tree compliment one another, and the shot gives a good impression of the setting.

This stag Sika was in a small group, with a couple of youngsters.

Canon 40D, sSgma 50-500mm lens, f6.3, ISO 200, 1/500th second at 500mm focal lens.

Hi there - great picture of the deer.

I enjoyed looking at your more recent posts as well - are Med gulls becoming more common in the UK - or are more people looking?

Cheers - Stewart M - Australia (but late of Somerset, Northumbria, Cumbria and Yorkshire!)

What a great shot Mike.
That Sigma lens works well with the 40D.

Thanks for viewing and leaving a comment Stewart.

Not sure of the answer regarding the Med Gull population. We always have a small group wintering in Scarborough and there does seem to have been a good number of reports in the uk the last couple of years.
I think there are definately more people looking, the interest in birding seems to have escalated considerably.

Cheers Roy, it's a good lens the Sigma but I am definately after a Canon lens and converters for compatibility, speed and sheer quality!

Regards

Mike
